sorry not sure where to post this.
the question that I want to ask is this.....
I have now been welding for well over 30 years.
currently I'm looking for a new job.
at the moment all I see time served welders only need apply.
can I class my self as a time serve or not.
I rang company for a job and told him that I'm not time serve ,but as far he is concerned for that length of time that Ive been welding, I am time served, but the job turned out to be tempory.
this got me thinking.should I put this on my CV's?
is there any thing that I need to know?
been told by a time serve welder friend yes as most firm ask you to do weld test anyway.
at work I have to do a yearly test to loyds specifications. theres 2 kind of welding equipment that I can use..mig /stick ,but not done the others.
I have NVQ level 3 in welding/fabrictions.
I started off as an apprentice sheet metal worker but got made redundant after 2 years(never finnished my apprentiship) but always been working with metals/welding etc..stick welding for about 8 years and then mig the rest.
oh and done alot of fabrications but mostly light industrial.boiler tanks/frames/stair lifts(s/lifts for 24 years).never done any heavy steel structual work like gantry/platforms etc.
my age might be against me to as I am 56 yrs old.
well I've tried to give as much as info as poss so
any tips advice will be most welcome.
