I dropped out of electrical installation work around 8 years ago as I'd fallen into a different line of electrical work. I'm qualified and have a C&G Level 3 in installation and a C&G NVQ Level 3. Both done in 2008.
I occasionally get asked to do electrical jobs for people and it would be handy to be able to do them and to be able to certify my own stuff on our own house and a rental house we have.
I've been looking at the required qualifications and it seems I would need to do the full 18th edition which I expected but it looks as though I'd have to do an initial verification course too.
A total cost of about £1500 quid in courses, that's before any registration fees with a scheme.
I did all the initial verification, testing etc. as part of the course I did back in 2008 but it seems that qualification is pretty worthless now which I'm a bit miffed about seeing as it cost me the best part of 2K and a few years at college and working for a spark on apprentices wage.
I know some of you on here are sparks can you clarify?
I've emailed some of the schemes to ask and am awaiting their reply.
