Does that mean you should pull at 3mm and below? On aluminium? ( Personally I would always push bare wire MAG and would never drag aluminium MIG, I’ve always found the gas coverage is better when pushing also fusion profiles are better, more critical when welding thicker section material, but this is based on personal experience over the years. Some people, especially those with little or no experience find dragging on sheet metalwork a bit easier)
Yes, I know, I'm a painful student but without a reason, including evidence, it's not a thing.( My comments are based upon reason and the evidence I’ve accumulated over the past 50 years, but hey, you never stop learning)

I thought that was only applicable with Oxy/Acytelene welding due to the amount of heat required for thicker plate with that process.I was always taught to push above 3mm and that is what we teach in our training school but at the end of the day it seems to be down to personal preference
