In just about every instance with solid wire MIG/MAG you should be pushing the weld...
The only time I pull a weld is vertical downhill which technically is also a no no but hey i'm a rebel A pulled weld is hotter which definitely makes things harder on thinner gauge steel
u must be used to stick welding huh?Blimey..in all these 30 years I've never, ever, pushed a weld...I did wonder sometimes.... where am I going wrong??
it sure does especially when u have only ever stickedPushing the weld just seems unnatural though!
Having learnt to weld with MIG and then learning stick, MIG now feels odd when pushing as I get the feeling I'm never quite in control compared to stick where I feel completely in control.
Just about every time now I'll reach for the parweld stick, put a 2.5 or 3.2 rod in, dial in the the power and away I go... No faffing with wire speeds, power setting, gas flow or joint prep.
