how to make a simple purge to weld stainless steel pipes ? tks

what size pipe are you welding ? I used 6mm rubber sheet cut to fit 10" pipe , pushed it in both ends , suitable hole for inlet and exhaust.

but i wish to know what do i have to buy, a new bottle regulator ? or what

I used a seperate bottle with regulator !

You can use a Y-adapter and two flowmeters after the regulator.

I have twin regs with twin flowmeters, one for the tig and the other for the purge, i have varouis rubber bungs some with a hole in them for the purge line

My set up is permanently on the reg. (See pic)

The purge line, the thin one, is a gas line taken from an old torch.

Hi,

I'm pretty much exclusively welding shedual 10 316L stainless for pumping and presurisation, we have some pipe plugs, bungs etc but when it comes down to it good old masking tape pretty much works on everything except rediculous sizes, like 16" and above, and then id use good quality waxed brown paper, and masking tape. and its cheep.......

you don't need to buy a new regulator, just a tee connected to the regulator outlet to give you two outlets as said. In the UK typically sold as 'twin outlet valves' or 'Y splitters' http://www.weldequip.com/twin-outlet-valve.htm, other countries will have similar things but gas fittings vary with region

Dual outlet regulators are less commonly found as they're a relatively expensive solution if you already have a regulator and one flow meter. Rapidwelding are one UK stockist for example but as with the Y splitters i would have thought pretty much any welding supplier in the known universe should be able to sort you out
