punch & die ??

I ask this question before but lost the detail.
I'm in need of a 12mm punch & die set. who is best to buy from?
I will be punching up to 4 mm thick (flattened tubing). thanks
oh and its a horse shoe? oval shape.

That looks like the Punch set of a CNC Turret Punch, Alpunch in swindon do a large range of Punch sets.

In the picture it shows the Toolholder, if you just need the Punch and Die it will work out much cheaper, The punch normally screws into the tool holder

the problem is which is the best? they all look the same to me.
I'd rather pay more for a quality punch but not to much say £70.
these may not fit my punch holder so I would have to get one made and this would cost me at least £120.
the size that I need is 12mm wide x 25mm long.
mild steel flat but mostly flattened 2mm wall tubings(4mm thick).
obviously I wont be punching out thousands of slots ,probably about 500/1000 slots in a year .

Geka punches are totally different to the picture you showed the other day???

They are similar to Punches which go into steelworkers, Those Geka Punches ideally fit into a geka machine, What type of machine do you have??

The geka/kingsland etc punches and dies are probably more adaptable, and not quite such high precision.



Im not sure what the difference is on them between machines, probably the diameter of the top of the punch, and overall diameter and maybe depth of the die.....

We have 2 steelworkers at work, a kingsland 85t and a geka 110t, the punches are the same for both machines* but the dies are different sizes.

Id think the minicrop or the 50 would be okay for your use....if there is any difference.

*The keyway slot on the top for shaped punches is different. too.

yes it is different to the pic gerry but I meant the slotted bit!
I dont have any machine etc just a 20 ton hydraulic press(hand operated)
as for fitment..I'll just get a new frame work made up to accept the geko.

If the main diameter of the geka punches is the same as your setup there, a bit of careful grinding, and it may well fit.
Take off the lip round the top of the punch, and grind a locating flat for your grubscrew.

I can have a measure up of one in the morning if you like.... what diameter is your one there?

The Geka list above are the machines not the punches and dies.

When you put the punches side by side between punches die and blades and MSM Punch Pro.
The latter looks better in terms of finish.

The ones on our geka (115 hydracrop, iirc) are-
punch, 30.7 diameter.
die, 50.7 diameter

I think these are 'geka 8' type.

It has a multistation punching head, so not sure if the dies are smaller if fitted with that...

The kingsland (85xs) ones are
punch, 30.7
die 60.0
