I've been repairng one of my 205's and part way through it i discovered that one of the chassis legs was a bit out of alignment from a previous knock it had received.
So using a porta power we pushed the bent leg out slightly so that the diagonals between the rear wing mounting hole and the strut mount holes on the oppsoite side were equal for both sides meaning the struts were now perfectly straight and true.
However by pushing the one strut out slightly this has had a magnified effect at the end of the chassis leg and when i came to re attach the front panel i found that the legs are now 5cm wider than on my other 205 and so the front panel wont fit.
So basically i need to brace between the strut (as these are correctly spaced/aligned) and pull the ends of the chassis legs in. The car is not in a moveabel stat so i cant getake it anywhere to be jigged so i really want/need to have a bash myself.
I looked at a trying to find a pull ram for my porta power but these seem quite expensive @ ~£65(ebay)
so i was looking at some sort of ratchet capable of a couple of tonnes
There are the caravan/winch style ones

however the gap between the chassis legs is only 84cm so i'm not sure if those sort would be too long to fit between the legs (the plan is to stick some beefy metal bars down the chassis legs and pull those together to pull the legs closer together)
then i thought about those guy rope tensioners you see on telegraph poles and wondered if they could be used??

Any ideas if these would be strong enough?
or any other great ideas on how i can achieve my goal
cheers
