Just been given a pub bottle but when I called into our workshop to scrounge a gauge / regulator I saw a huge size difference is there an adapter or a certain set up I need . a total greenhorn here so please be gentle
pub gas bottles are good for pubs not for welding, many contain nitrogen and other undesirable gases, nice if you like welds that look like swiss cheese.
Before you go any further on the regulator front make sure it is pure CO2 without other gases
Some of the gases are mixes instead of pure co2. A pub bottle is just a different size and cheaper as there is no rental usually but if you use a lot an industrial is better.

It should be a black bottle ,in BOC's case beer gas (co2/nitrogen mix) are green with lilac or maroon shoulders as far as i remember although some cylinders have changed i think but co2 should be black or mostly black and labeled co2
