Can anyone recommend a protective coating for mild steel repairs?
In particular for section of mild steel plate welded into an excavator bucket.
I had heard of 'blue steel'? Can any one recommend a product.
Corrosion.
Just thought in a rough environment paint wouldn't be strong enough. Its just to protect a patch. Not planning to coat the entire bucket.
Thanks
Galvanising will wear off quite quickly....normally its just paint but you could possibly phosphate it....just paint it with phosphoric acid....or theres Jenolite (if its still available) which adds zinc.....probably wont do much though
You cant really protect excavator buckets as they wear while digging, if its just for periods while not digging a light coat of old engine oil will protect it.
