Protecting trailer plywood

I’ve an old trailer with holes in the floor and when I strip it out was considering using a sheet of fibreglass with polyester resin on top of the new ply, it’s what’s used on boat floors, I haven’t priced it yet though, it maybe too expensive for an old trailer, but yours is a quality made trailer

Yeh I didn’t take that into consideration, maybe not such a good idea then, think the scaffold planks might be the way to go

My decking is made of that, things slide across it very easily as well. I’ve seen people fall on their **** on it when it’s wet

Depends on the boards. Some have better slip resistance than others. Mill boards rings a bell. Been a while since I had a deck job

I'd also look to lay it left to right so the grooves aid traction.

Wet ply isn't exactly grippy. Neither are buffalo boards or checker plate

My last trailer I put a prison mesh bottom in it, that was plenty strong enough for what I carted about in it and it let the water out.
if I needed to carry the likes of sand I had a ply base I used to drop in on top of the mesh.

If you use ply give it numerous coats of epoxy resin and let it soak in. Use a roller.
Use a brush on the edges of the sheet.

This is very good stuff. Will never rot.
Bit slippery though.

If you are concerned about slippery, have a look at something like these, which you can screw down onto your trailer deck. I saw these mats at a Farm Supply, and they are heavy duty for sure.

My flat bed on the landrover is 18mm marine ply painted the edges with black machine paint then did the top surface with the same paint with sand mixed in for a bit of grip. Top surface has lost its grip but ply is still very solid 5 years later. Used as a log/ firewood truck.
