Protecting my 'domain name' or whatever

There is another scam out there pretending to be an email reminder to pay for your domain renewal and has a link to pay in the email. Except, it's not actually from the domain company, (in my case it was 123reg and was typefaced to look the same). I am guessing that they are just phishing for people to just take it as read and renew. Not very good at it mind, because they sent me an email reminder with the wrong renewal dates, they must just guess them, I am sure people fall for it though as the email looks quite convincing.

yep those as well....most have the option to auto renew these days, just tell them to do it & pay the bill

That is just the thing, you have to "opt out" of auto renew with this company, ie, it defaults to auto renew and they save your card details, so that was another way to tell it was fake!

I get loads of these, as already said. Ignore.

Always log into your hosting account from your own bookmark rather than from a link, there's some really tricky gits out there.

I dont even bookmark hosts, bank, paypal etc anymore
