Not at my local scrappy they're not. £10 a piece, dented or not. He's got a nice little Taymax and a Max Sievert with a wooden handle, but a badly dented tank.

£5 to £20 here from a second hand shop.

Normally complete, but the washers are the normal item to fail.

I love a restored bathroom or kitchen with hand made panels, Not always the cheapest option but if it has lasted 50 years or more i think another 50 makes it worth it.

I did the windows in this place 5 years back. Over 80 windows lol.
Was lovely when I was there. Properly period.
Lost a lot of it's charm in the renovation.
And the two Daleks from the Peter Cushing film are no longer in the library
They had manacins dressed up all over the place. Kept catching your eyes and making you think someone was stalking you.
There obviously still struggling to sell it 5 years on.

There is an antique shop in Hungerford who seams to have lots of old taps and bath fittings.
They are always in poor state of repair. But the price he askes for is way way to much.

we have but a lot of old skills are being lost and most now aren't interested in learning it

We're also losing a lot of the old craftsmen that had those skills

Hi, I used to have a friend that had a shell casing like those, he used to chuck his change in it. There were some times squashed spiders that had wandered in to set up home.

It was empty for 40 years, it's been in the same family a long time, I think my customer live there as a child

I must admit, I'd like to have another go at it with an old blow lamp

I reckon you'd do fine.

Growing up in the fifties my only experience was with a paraffin blowlamp and apart from the knack of getting them started and the weight of a full 1pt lamp, (we didn't have a 1/2pt) they worked well enough.
I was a bit nervous doing my first wiped joint 'in position' (repairing next door's outside lavvy when the frost had split the inlet pipe to the cistern). But with a cloth liberally impregnated with flux (I had no tallow!) and a stick of plumbers' lead it went well first go.
Now and then I come across the old wooden turnpin my dad had for opening the end of a pipe to receive the other (at one time I think they were a set but I can only ever find one). I daresay when I'm gone it'll go in the skip for want of anyone knowing what it is.
The only place I see paraffin blowlamps these days is highly polished on antique stalls or 'upcycled' into table lamps and paraffin sold near us is dearer than petrol.

Probably sourcing a length of lead pipe will be more difficult than finding a working blowlamp though.

I understand one can still buy 'nipple prickers' online and you don't have to go to Anne Summers to get them.
