I was thinking about the prop the other day as i saw a program about a shipyard in the us.
I cant really offer any expertise in the matter but im thinking pre-heated tig with controlled cooldown would be the most appropriate method,but i could be talking utter ****e as normal

I've a feeling DIY Welding has the best solution so far - the obvious and least complicated one!
It also ties in with the best looking solution from that other site.
Tig would probably be impossible because of access issues. Stick would need the least prep, and give as good a quality weld as anything.
