Picked up the correct brake pads for Amarok yesterday and got them fitted. Reckon I got my money's worth out of the factory pads which were down to a couple of mm after only 90,000 miles.

Genuine VW pads must be good, 1st front set on our Tiguan lasted until 90000 miles as well. Had bought new pads at 70000 for it and only changed them 20000 miles later. I'd say they would have made it to 100000. Discs had seen better days by that point.

I’ve noticed that,when my dad,bought new or almost new T25 vw campers,the original pads and batteries would go to big miles like yours,I’m convinced the factory get a higher standard part for the production line.

Started the cyclonic dust extractor system just before Crimbo day , spent £106.97 on grey plastic waste pipe end caps & 50 mm collars ( OMG they have quadrupled in price in 5 years or so ) .

I cut the 3 mtr length of pipe in half then half again to hole saw three 50 mm collared inlets for an extraction tube air inlet vacuum chest that is air tight , the end caps mean I can take them off easily at each end if there is a blockage of crud or shavings etc , one of the end caps has also beel hole sawed to solvent weld in the outlet spigot / tube.. This afternoon Mr whitre van man delivred the well boxed double cyclone unit foir me to assemble , it's impressive.

This is the dual cyclone dust removal cyclone . will try it on a standard industrial wet & dry vac with a new or well cleaned filter in the vacuum . Normall the filters in these industrial wet & dry machines are choc-a-bloc with fine dust after a few days of use '@ 2 hrs a day . But i suspect it will be far better with a fan impellor & vari speed motor venting cleaned air back into the workshops.

There should be no dust in the clear bowl if you have the suction balance correctly set for the number of inputs to the cyclone via an air chest .

I'm certainly looking forward to getting it mounted on a screw top rigid plastic drum or a modified 49 kg cylinder & suitable por perhaps one of the commercial style heavy galv steel dust bins or similar if it is cheap enpugh .

Had a look at loads of online offers for impellor driven dust removal with bag catchers ,, not only were most miles away , most they looked as though they were well used and therefore why would they be on sale in such numbers . Suspect it is like the ones in our Men's Shed ....... they don't remove the damaging lung fine particles

My mother was a seamstress, pre scool age I was taken to work with her often spending the day sat on the end of her work table playing with chalks or a big pot of pins but I have never so much as sewn a cloth patch bage to a denim jacket. I have the utmost respect for anyone that can trim a car interior.

Not my usual choice of colour but wanted something that was attention getting and to show that there are other options than grey, black or beige.

Just normal rate, mileage earns a tidy profit though.

I must get some sort of high pressure parts washer, cleaning the components took me 4 hours, cheap chinese grease goes like tar.

About two hours in actually stripping and replacing the bearings.

I’ve just given Mrs A’s KitchenAid a clean and regrease - took all afternoon to clean it out
