Project fatigue

My days of big projects are over but even small ones get fatigued

Currently fitting an Android head unit to the Freelander, it's stopped and started a few times and is now waiting on parts

I took the hard route and removed the stock head unit, rather than the usual add on screen

I quickly learned why most do not take this route, being me I refuse to give in and I think that contributes to the fatigue

I think I'm starting to get to that stage too...I have X3 cars that need work, a boat that needs finishing and a house to renovate.

I think I just need to retire early and crack on with everything.

Caught up with an old friend, the finished project list is actually quite impressive over the years

But priorities and desires change. I've decided I'm happiest in an older, basic car for now, however I still like a touch of modernity (and good lights, that are so cheap these days there is no reason not to)

Same here...for daily drivers we have cheap/new cars which are kept for up to 5 years. Good lights are a big one for us...main reason I got rid of my Volvo was poor lights.

What year is your Freelander? Mines a 2014, so the late model with the facelift dash, unfortunately only a GS with the basic stereo which I believe isn't easily upgraded.

I've seen people take years, decades even, to perfectly restore a car. Will often speak of how wonderful their chosen paint/underbody protection/cavity wax/engine oil etc are . . . And they are, as it's never actually made it outside!

Meanwhile I've done 100,000 miles of grinning inanely behind the wheel of my not quite so numbers matching restoration/reworking, with real life proof of paint etc.

In my mind I got it right

We get lots of folk at shows whinging about the Cummins in the scammell explorer, or wrong tyres on the Kraz. Truth is if we kept them original they wouldn’t ever leave the shed as we couldn’t afford to run them. At least they’re out and about, and most people don’t know the difference between a meadows and a Cummins anyways

2008, usual suggestions are one that replaces the top screen or cubby hole. I wanted to replace the lower head unit
