hi new to the forum so thought i would post some pics of my winter project back arches were shot with rust so time to start repair.. will update as i go

I've also got an evo (a 6 though) sadly they do suffer from a bit of rust.

No not a painter by trade have done stuff in the passed, it's kicking out 380bhp with few engine mods and a geek map

They do if they are a grey import and left without underseal when used in the UK !!
Bought mine new and it's never used in winter or the rain, so it still looks like new, even underneath !

Mines is an import it was well undersealed when I bought it. Someone just never did a good job rolling the back arches

Painted the basecoat on car today

paint job turned out not to bad, tho the area where i had body filler has blistered what would cause this?

the last 2 pictures show the area that will now need sanded down 3 coats is what i done any help on the blisted part of the paint?

The pictures aren't really big or clear enough to see exactly whats happened...

Mate of mine used to work in the body repair trade, I'll ask him what the causes are.

Why the tiddly little pictures Phil? It's difficult to make anything out in any of them.
Get rid of that Photocrapet and stick some proper ones on the forum server for us.

Yeh sorry about picture size there off my phone, will get a hold of the camera stick some up via the computer. The blisted part of the paint work was where i used body filler and primer hopefully the bigger pictures will show this better update soon

well hope these are bigger pictures... really want to find out why the basecoat has cracked over where i filled and primed! the basecoat mix was 50/50 mix ratio any thoughts?

Shrinkage.
I'd say the filler hasn't fully hardened.
Did you use a stopper?

I'm not a painter but have had my share in the past 6 months.

My car but was painted and prepped by a mate.
Just for the record. The tyre walls at Castle Combe are actually soft but the bolts holding the tyres together are not..

Shrinkage!? The filler was left for well over a week before I sanded it down, then I primed with high build primer after that wet sanded it down with 1500 grit left for few days then got round to painting the basecoat. Never used stopper tho I'm going to sand these bits down with 800grit.... Temps are against me now so will have to wait.

looks like a the shrinkage is due to a compatibly issue
