Product idea - LED light for torch shroud

I guess no-one has created a MIG-shroud mounted LED?

When welding upside down with "helmet down" it would be quite useful to have a white LED illuminating the area. External lighting is possible, but subject to welding spatter or being obscured by your arm/torch/etc.

Hmmmm....i really don't think it would have a long life mate... With all the spatter, heat etc And i think you would bump into everything unless you are able to fit it in smoothly...

It would be better to put it on your helmet then?

Hours? If it was me it woulden't even make hours... I tend to slam it around when i'm in a hurry...

Mmmm, should be possible.
When the trigger is pressed it mechanically pulls a guard down over the LED.

Yes, head mounted is simpler, and it removes the heat buildup issue. Then again marketing will probably create it if only to charge twice as much.

And only 32 bucks! Lets see now, you'd break, say, 2 of those a day, so 10 a week (on a five day week for you Paul, aye, right), $320. Worth every penny.

Will last as long as D batteries in a 4D maglite.
One minor drop and the battery tops dents inwards making it flicker on... off... on... off...

Wonder if someone makes a "rubber hex moulding" to stick on the end of a maglite to stop the damn thing rolling around all the time.

What's it supposed to clip to? The swan neck? I can see that lasting all of 5 mins before the clips start to melt and it falls off.

I designed one last year, had it made but there was several issues. The heat from the gun melted the LEDs the UV was not sufficient to run the solar panel to charge the battery I will try and upload the prototype photos.

This was my idea on the issue. however as said it had some issues. I made a batch of them and had them all tested in mind of the hobbyist. They were fine with the exception of the issues. Still at the back of my mind to continue with the project as its been shelved as I am continuing on projects which are making money.

If I make another go at it as I have a solution to the issues then I may send samples out across the forum but at the moment I have too much on
