I have a Partner chainsaw I bought about 15 year ago, which although cheapish has been great for the lowish hours I use it for.
Recently I have been having problems keeping it running, basically feels like fuel starvation. Starts fine, runs on choke, then ok for a couple of minutes then starts to struggle to accelerate before eventually dying completely.
Stripped and cleaned the carb multiple times ( A Warbro WT391), then puchased an overhaul kit and fitted.
Eventually figured out that the carb isn't sucking fuel in consistently, it will pull some up from the tank then dries up, so changed the plastic pipes and the ceramic filter thing that sits in the tank.
Problem persists so thought it might be vacuum in the tank as the lid breather felt blocked. Cleared that same problem.
Pulling my hair out grrrr, when the carb is primed if you pull the supply pipe off it pee's out fuel, but after running for a few mins it stops, then when you pull the supply pipe it is dry.
So, how do these carbs work on a two stroke? Does the vacuum from the engine suck the fuel in to the carb, is it capillary action? Any suggestions?
If it was a 4 barrel on my Mustang it would be easy, but bl##dy tiny carbs on 2 strokes aren't my thing. I know I should go and buy a decent Stihl saw but money's a bit short at the moment
