Cheers I have re run a new/2nd temp ground cable off the crimp and was no diff will try stripping a little coating off the alloy cable see what happens thenI had a problem with mine a few years ago where the connection between the earth lead (the one with the welding clamp on it) and transformer had corroded.
twixt ? give us a clue not heard that beforeWhat about the connection 'twixt transformer and choke?
As your meter readings seem ok I would ask again have you tried a new tip ? (correct size!) Reason = You are metering and getting good results from the ground clamp to the power being feed to the welding wire (inside the welder somewhere?) but that power has to then get to the tip and then transfer to the weld wire. If tip is wrong/worn = poor weld or if cable upthrough torch is braking down under load = poor weld. Also have you replaced you weld wire prior to getting this issue ?
I got good voltage readings from my bad crimp connection but no current, much the same as you do with a resistorAs your meter readings seem ok I would ask again have you tried a new tip ? ahh I see you mean between got it now very old EnglishWell, 'twixt is obviously a contraction of "betwixt", innit
Cheers I will look at that see what it's like after a little weldingwith the sides off the machine try welding for a minute or so, unplug the welder then feel the crimp connections any that are bad could heat up as they arc inside, I had a bad crimp on the return lead to transformer it looked good was physically strong but electrically was bad
Yep new tip in 0.6 and been the same on other wire reels I've used to as you said the volts seem ok and I've cleaned everything up so will have a good play today and see if I can/can't get it playing up once warm again and report back on how it performs will also try uping the gas cheers once again guys for putting up with a newbieAs your meter readings seem ok I would ask again have you tried a new tip ? its annoying when things don't go right and it should be a very easy fixCheers will do the gun lead connection to the transformer tomorrow see what happens if not I will find the biggest persuader in the shed see if that works
At the start was to high could feel it pushing back why it stopped and and turned it down will do another tonight on the wire feed and see what you guys think seems smooth enough to me when I'm just putting the trigger down and watching and listening could it be slowing/speeding up while striking an arc?? As that's something I can't really see/hear once welding if so it's very minorfrom the sound especially at the start is sounds like its a wire feed issue it doesn't sound like a constant smooth flow of wire
