After getting fed up with the rip off prices for canon cartridges we went for a 4 colour Epson with refillable tanks last time. Definitely a lot cheaper to run but that spell of hot weather has dried up the colour heads and it is not printing correctly. Black is still ok.

I was using non branded cartridges - very much cheaper than Canon, and never had any issues - until now which is more likely the printer than the cartridge..

That's the true beauty of lasers. Never concerned about printheads clogging or such. Consumable costs are higher, on lasers, but over time, they're more cost effective.

100 page contract HP ink jet here. Had for at least 5 years was around 2.90+vat but now creeping up to around 5.40+vat. Best thing is peace of mind always having replacement cartridges to hand. Notice the cartridges are bigger than shop bought and never dry out, also never need to worry about black or colour the price is the same 100 page A4 full colour same as 1 half page black per month.
Had a mono laser and a colour ink jet but after a few toner carts the laser needed a new drum which was more than the price of a new laser. Ditched both at that point for the hp.
