Primer

New to the forum guys so be gentle!

I use etch primer on bare alluminium and then 2k high build. Is epoxy better for alloy wheels? Would i still need to use 2k high build if i used epoxy?

I would also like to start tinting the primer so it is the same colour as the basecoat. Is it as simple as just putting a little bit of the basecoat in the primer?

one coat of epoxy three coats of high build,one coat of etch three coats of high build.both have good adishion properties.as for tinting your primer i would not bother.the time you only need to tint primer ,is were you have transparent colors ,that take some coats to cover.

afetr using epoxy primer i wouldnt have thought etch would be any good as its designed to adhere to metals.

also i dont think the tinting primer is a good idea as it will alter the chemical make up of the primer which is desiged to adhere to metal

I have been told tinting the primer slightly is a good idea, it wont readily show stone chips.

Yes it is a good idea but you can't tint Epoxy or high build with basecoat, They tint it with tinters when its mixed, My local suppliers have a scheme so tint to what colour you require.
