It can be very tough as a standalone coating. I painted some really exposed bits of sill on my daily car with it 3 years ago and it hasn't chipped off or lifted. I couldn't event get shutz to stay on these areas before so it's done better than all other coatings including stone chip and underseals etc. Personally I don't think epoxy fares too well once its chipped though unless it's on media blasted steel and chips/ coating damage are inevitable under a vehicle sooner or later. If the stones don't cause it your MOT tester will. As such I'd probably advise a generous coat of a clear anti corrosion wax over it like bilt hamber dynax UC, then top it up yearly, or perhaps some kind of rubberised spray sealer to prevent chipping overall. Otherwise you'll be into full blown degreasing, inspection and small coating repairs every year. I just don't seem to be able to give my daily that level of in depth bodywork care tbh, I can barely manage a quick hose down with a detergent, dealing with any blatantly obvious scabs then slathering on anti corrosion wax.Just read some more about that 87 mastic. Sounds good for the chassis and under steel mudguards. Perfec!

No i didn't. It's a case of my dad used r d oxide, I learnt to Use red oxide. I am never interested in painting beyond some protection to the elements so never looked into it
It does - like any coating. It's good, applied properly, but it's not bulletproof.I don't see how it is possible to chip it, unless a formulation I haven't seen before. It is so flexible that you can crush the mixing cup with little damage to the paint coat. It also doesn't let go of its substrate without serious abrasion, unless it wasn't cleaned properly as per my Middlebridge.

It certainly will wear away - which is why I cover it in another layer of paint, then a layer of underseal.
Painter didn't like it's toughness in and around my windscreen surround - pain to prep back for paint - I probably applied it a little too generously in that area.
Or try here. What do we reckon to this? Is it the same type of stuff as the Jotun? I don't care about the colour as its going to be under the trailer, but its reduced probably because of the colour...
