Well, I wouldn't climb over Kate to get to Ann Widdecombe. What is wrong with moss?
It creeps under the edges of your tiles, and lets water run down into your garage, making you think you need a new roof. What is wrong with moss?
Might have half a load left over ?WHAT! No offer to relay the drive ?
Look up felt trays or eaves protector. They come in 1.5 metre lengths.Well it's done and although it looks a lot better now, maybe my interpretation was ambitious... Nothing was ground out, perhaps because apart from bits that had broken out, the mortar was actually in very good condition. A couple of places on the top of the ridge tiles there was a slight gap on one side and he just filled those.
So I suppose the price was just OK.
One gutter clip was slightly broken (caught top with ladder) and he owned up to it and offered to replace, so maybe he's not too bad.
The felt is rotted along the bottom edges, he does a system where a plastic tray is slid under the first tile and has a run-off to the gutter. Quote for that was £600, garage is about 5.2m x 5.5m.
I did think he would grind out as you said so I am a little bit peeved. He did say something about not wanting to grind if possible due to disturbing tiles or dust/debris getting under them but I wasn't really clear on it.I'm not going to say he's right or wrong to do what as you said but I would have thought pushing a bit of cement in to a crack is not some thing I've done I've replaced a few top ridge tiles that have had cracks on the cement
Used angle grinder to cut the cement out either end and knocked off the cement on each tile and removed all cement off the roof tiles and rebed with fresh cement would have thought been the way
I suppose the story of this is ask what is to be done on a quote?
Thanks. he did say they were 1.5m lengths.Look up felt trays or eaves protector. They come in 1.5 metre lengths.
Sounds a lot to me, especially for a job that can be done off a step ladder. But then again, I wouldn't pay anyone to do anything that I can do myself.
Yeah I kind of thought that. He said any problem in 10 years just get in touch and he will sort it. Not sure how well that will go in practice.if its not ground out and just extra mortar slapped on over it 1st winter wet gets in freezes and the whole lot falls off
Not if you don't have gutters etc. and claim the discount from the water people. When it gets dry it clogs gutters, downpipes and hoppers.
