i payed 800 for mine but that was with no dro and a J head (the steped pully drive).
the vairable speed head goes for a lot more but iv put a vfd on my the spindle and it works fine for what im doing

the slides are sometimes chrome genraly a big machene goes cheap cos people dont have room in there garage for it nor a way to move it

not all have powerd beds mine came with one. A moden power feed for a bridge port is about 250 if i can rember right

Got my old J-head from a local firm that was moving and downsizing. It's not perfect and has been used plenty but is accurate enough for me still got some scraping marks on the ways. No DRO (I want to fit one of the cheap chinese ones). All mechanical so no electronics to go wrong (apart from the vfd's driving it). Bought with 3 phase wiring which I ripped out and replaced with the 2 vfd's one for the table drive motor and one for the head. Cost me about a grand if I recall. There are a lot out there with wear but really depends how much. Don't be put off by dirty machines though. A coat of paint doesn't tell you how worn the ways are. Tried milling on my Myford before this. No comparison. Remember to factor in costs to move. They are heavy and top heavy if not broken down before moving.

it would depend on what model of bp it was but in fairness they all do a similar job.
a lot of the older ones are well worn by now if they havnt been cared for all along.
i was in the market for a BP last year, i watched sooo many on ebay and every other site too, in all my time watching all i ever seen was one mint, and i mean mint 2j BP sold for €1500 but it was an in house sale so id of never got it.
i seen plenty of mills sold for what on the outside looked like cheap money but as Wedg1e said, buy once and buy right and id agree with him.
problem with ebay was it might of looked good but unless you stood at it to see then you were taking a gamble.
in saying that, the mill i have here now originally was for sale on ebay but it didnt sell, i kept his info and a few days after mulling it over in my head i contacted him.
an honest man i must say and he sent me about 20 pictures of it in a mail.
no dro but it was a 1984 2j head 48" table with power feed in the x axis and a slotting head on the other end.
it has slight wear but not enough to bother me too much tbh, its about 5-600 to grind all the slides so not dear really.
i also got a boring head, fly cutters, collets, mt,s and a few other bits, about 500's worth roughly.
we had a chat, settled on a price and i booked a ferry.
the machine came out of Falkirk left in the morn and home in the evening.
as for money, in the grand scheme of things i paid over and above probably but with transport and machine cost im out about £3,500 for it.
ive added a dro and a z axis power feed since but im really happy with it tbh.
if you are buying a mill, if you can get one with as much tooling as possible, there is nothing cheap about it when you go looking...

We use to have several Cincinnati milling machines and were very good machines. Maybe not too popular over here but you might pick up a good one cheaply if you are lucky.

some day ill buy one of them, i do see keith fenner geting great use out of his at times.
a very handy machine for certain jobs.
