Gents
I've tried knurling a few times with mixed results. I can't seem to get a fully knurled Finnish. I thought it was the tool holder deflecting but tonight I realised its the tool post slipping on the compound. I tightened the hold down nut as much as I dare and it still slips before I get a good Finnish.
Now, looking at my compound there are two nasty holes drilled by the previous owner and looking at the Tool post that came with it they have machined recesses that can match the holes. There is also a single hole on my QCTP that could align with these holes.
Question, I'm thinking of using a ball or pin in these to prevent the post slipping during high load procedures, is this a done thing or is there something else I need to be doing?
Picture of the holes I refer too (and original tool post), ignore all the grease and crud I cleaned this up and it still slipped..
