Pressure switch reset button

Hi
My compressor (2HP Oiless Screwfix Direct Cheapo 50ltr) has decided it doesn't want to play any more - I read on here somewhere that there is a reset button in the pressure switch somewhere - anyone any idea where to look? It is the black pressure switch with the red knob on top

Any advice appreciated

Ther reset button is more likely to be on the motor rather than the pressure switch.

It might be a simple 'thermal-overload cutout' which has tripped-off; if there is one to reset then it will likely be bolted/clipped to the motor housing.
It might seem obvious to ask; but Is the plug`s fuse intact and the air-pressure regulator switch 'calling' correctly?

Recently, my compressor suddenly failed and it transpired that the fault lay with the motor-run capacitor, which had failed, causing the motor to not be able to start to rotate....if the trip-reset doesn`t fix the problem then a visit to the Maplin catalogue (or shop) would surely get a replacement capacitor should it be needed.

Hi all
Managed to get it to start, problem is that I need to switch it off at the plug, take the cover off and 'flip' the switch with a screwdriver - I have another post on here (trouble finding spares I think it's called) I'm not too savvy with part names but there is a small silvery/aluminium pie running from tank to behind pressure switch that has broken, wondering if this is affecting diaphram in switch?

That pipe is probably the one used to empty air out of the pipe between the pump & tank.

Presumably it doesn't hiss when it stops now? Does air come out of this pipe when the pump is running?

Does it stop OK when it gets upto pressure?

Then I guess it doesn't restart when the pressure drops?

If this is the case I'd say you were looking at a new pressure switch.

When the compressor is on and the pipe 'pops' then air comes out of the large brass connector on tank at a powerful rate... recently my manifold (??) sprung a leak so compressor doesn't get to full whack for it to cut out....

So how do you stop it, red knob on the pressure switch or the mains?

I push the red knob (ooeerr misses) down but it won't pull up... had the pressure swich off whilst I tried to redrill the blanking plate on the rear of my regulator that had broken 2 of it's screws, could I have tightened the 4 bolts that holds the pressure switch to the top of the regulator too tight?

Ok, if you just use the mains switch instead will it switch back on?

4 bolts? They're normally fastened by a short 1/4 bsp pipe in the bottom. Sounds like you may have partially dismantled the switch.

When you put the cover on is the button in the "on" position when the tank is empty.

You may have broken a bit on the red knob, may not be engaging it properly with the mechanism or damaged something when you took it to bits.
