We found a dead sheep and a dead newborn calf dumped by the side of a local lane. Reported and told it's happened a few times before as the cost of getting the knackers man to take them away means unscrupulous farmers just dump themFrom the dealings I've had with farmers over the years I don't think they waste money on anything!
On numerous occasions when I've spent the night in the wagon parked in a farmyard I've had to be extremely careful where I was walking for fear of treading in the mortal remains of a long dead sheep or cow. One evening I was parked on a farm in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales next to what turned out be said remains and I said to the farmer: "As tha' nivver erd o' Jeff Mallock?" His reply was priceless: "Ee lad, tha's a lot ter learn sithi. No point paying fer knacker man when rats'll do it fer nowt!"
