Not sure if its a help but a mate has Ski goggles with a pescription insert its like a pair of lenses secured inside the goggles I'm not sure if the system could be adapted for your use and beware like anything to do with skiing it was expensive but made his life a lot easier than OTG goggles.

20 odd years ago we trialed a version of that with ear defenders too. I still have one in the shed for use with the mower. Works very well.

I found it vastly better than safety glasses as the drop-down visor did not restrict my peripheral vision as the glass's side guards did. No issues of touching or risking damage to my VERY expensive varifocals either.

Not all sites accept them though.

While I reckon 400 quid to protect your eyes is still a reasonable price, I'm lucky in that my prescription is more normal.

This is obviously not safe from a safety glass point of view . . . I was handed a pair of shield very similar to these on-site in the USA a few years ago - they had a big box ready :

Often thought about getting some prescription safety glasses, but as I don't need them for work, and the fact that my normal glasses are £600+ a pair, I've not investigated much. Saw they weren't readily available, and gave up.

Im not sure what range we cover ,, but I can get a look , usually we sell bolle and anyone who uses them wouldnt be without them
400 is not out of the way ,,, the lens will probably be 1.7 polly so they could be costing about 100 each ,,, so throw in a frame and a bit of profit for the optom and thats the price ,,, we have had a run of essilor hmc break downs in the last year so be aware of that ,,, lenses at that price will b hard multi coat as standard ,,

Any decent optician should be able to grind any lens to suit a pair of safety frames, I'd be trying another optician!

Have you tried Oakley's. I know they are fashion but Some of their sun glasses meet the same standards as safety specs. Even have the correct ce no. Stamped on them. Or atleast they used to. I know they where bought out a few years ago. Just have a very light tint or even yellow tint. I love wearing yellow tint safety specs they make everything so much more cheerful.

That's the best range I've seen by far so I'll look into this company.

I got some 3m specs from them really helpful company backed by an optician well worth speaking with. Mine came super quick I have a normal prescription and they were around £150 ish use them everyday wouldn’t hesitate to get another pair.

@dobbslc - ultimately it's up to your employer to make sure you have suitable PPE. That is quite an extreme prescription though, so will need a decent optician to fit suitable lenses into a safety glass frame. (Either that or you're doomed to walk around with a full face visor.)

I'm getting into trouble on some of the sites I'm working on for not wearing safety glasses / goggles.
I wear glasses normally and can't wear another pair of goggles or glasses over the top of mine as they don't fit well, always steam up and scratch my very expensive glasses.
I have a very high prescription of over -11 cyl and can't find anywhere that gets even close to being able to make a pair of safety glasses for me.
I have had to walk off a very large site before when the ignorant "safety officer" wouldn't accept I can't buy the correct glasses and just kept repeating "go to ARCO they do them". I think my employer will cough up for them (yes I know by law they have to) but at £400 a set it's a lot of money.
I'm fed up of dodging the suits as they wonder around site looking for excuses to talk down to me!
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?
I won't mind wearing them if I can get them!
I hate to bring it up and mention the word but am I being discriminated against because I have bad eye sight? I don't do any drilling, cutting, grinding etc I just walk about with a test meter and a clipboard
Maybe @Parm can give me some of his shiny headed wisdom on this subject

ive kinda been in the same boat on all building sites they only offer the palsatic straped ones that fit over the glasses

and yes they do steam up

i havent found a pair that can be used even the ones i have over fitting the glasses that i have to wear my normal prescription ones

i know its not a good thing but your better off going back to glass lenses and using over goggles again its the only way to get around the scratched lenses

My wifes glasses always steamed up when she does sports and she found a product called "Nano Magic" that she tells me really works

scratch my very expensive glasses

I hate scratching mine and have two solutions for this
1. a second cheaper pair that you don't care so much about. You do have to remember to change them but if you keep them with the goggles you have a better chance of doing this
2. I find the Uvex safety goggles good at not scratching but sometimes can let crap in if you don't put them on right. This shouldn't be a problem for you if you are doing clean work
