Saw this youtube video today, chance to win a 750 triton - looks & sounds nice!
currently 3,202 is nbr of tickets sold, of a max 9,999 ... so for £2.99 the odds seem reasonable
but apparently if you buy 8 tickets the odd are 1 in 1,250 (dunno how that works).

At worst it's 2.99 lost, at best its full set of spares !

Early 70s, my physics teacher had a Norvin. Often had L plates as he was teaching his girlfriend to ride.

You couldn't ride one on "L" plates in the '70s.
I think that that changed in 1965.

No, not as far as I recall. A blanket 250cc limit was imposed.
I'll need to head of to t'interweb.

It seems that it was 1961 that the 250 limit was introduced.
BUT - you could ride an outfit of any capacity until 1971.
Also the minimum age was raised from 16 to 17.

Fabulous project,that front brake looks gorgeous,hope it stops well,never yet seen discs look appealing stationary.
Always puzzled me why such huge tanks for road use ,all that weight high up,and at 40-45 mpg and you need a stop with the clip ons anyway.

Can’t you ride on L plates unrestricted size as a mature learner with a bike & qualified rider alongside. I’m sure that’s how someone I know learnt, on a Harley.

Then person I know may have used this clause, I don’t know any more

A2 motorcycle licences​

If you’re in your early twenties and decided to take up riding a motorbike, it’s likely you’ll be aiming for an A2 licence. Similar to the above-mentioned A1 licence, you’ll have the freedom to take to the motorway and carry a friend along too. We’d still recommend learning the ins and outs of carrying a pillion passenger as it’s a big responsibility. With age comes a little more freedom and this licence level is no different. You’ll be looking for motorbikes that are somewhere around the 550 – 600cc mark. Your test will be taken on a bike that is no less than 249cc. It’s a big jump and the range of bikes available can be a little confusing. Especially as it’s not just about the power; it’s the power-to-weight ratio. In this case, that’s no more than 0.2Kw of power per kilo.

unlimted combo went on into the 80's, I put a chair on a mates chop[750 pre unit triumph] and my anothers Laverda Mirage for them to take tests.
I have no idea about modern rules n tests.
