I'm due to make some decorative curved screens for unattractive cylindrical public bins. The plan is to have two plys of 1mm sheet per bin, the top one having floral images cut out with the bottom ply painted so it's kind of like a negative cut out stencil, both plys will then be attached to the bins. My plan originally for the top plys was to plasma cut them, then get them blasted and zinc sprayed, but I'm wondering if it'll be better to use pre-galved sheets and jigsaw cut them.
I've never used pre-galved sheets and my concern with that method is that the vibrations from the jigsaw might crack the surrounding galv and it flake off. Do you think that's a possibility? I spoke to the blasting/zinc spraying firm I use and they said if I used untreated sheets they could gently blast off the scale and zinc spray without distorting it via heat, but it's obviously goin to cost more than using pre-galved. I guess the 3rd option is to use pre-galved sheets and if it does crack off I get the zinc touched up by my local sprayers. I'm going to T wash the top ply so hopefully any colour differences will blend in.
Which method would you go for?
