Evening guys.
A interesting job I got to sort. This little PR motors gearbox. Ain't seen one of these for a long while. It drives but the disengagement don't work. Did work on one many years ago. I this there is a little splined shaft on a spring that works off the folk leaver..something like that..will have a look tomorrow.

Yes . Choosing an oil shouldn't be a problem....

No. I googled them. PR motors still produce gearboxes . All I could find was history of there development..

By the look of the label, I would imagine any 80 grade gear oil will be just fine,

Looks like it's been apart a few times going by the chisel marks on the joints.....

Yes. Someone has had it apart by the looks of things.. probably a case full of horrors waiting for me.

I used to run a couple of my diesel Land Rovers on Shell Rotella 30. As it was on 'free issue', Even been known to change it a couple of times a week when I got a new.(to me) one

Yes a lot of them small dumpsters had them.

Cleaned up the case and started slowly pulling it apart...the folk isn't broken. The spring and pin are there and the drive cog. Some wear and tear on one end but all is working...little bit of wear on the pin.

I found the problem. Someone previous who had it apart has put it back together the wrong way round faffing idiots. All in the correct way now and working..got to split to case as it's leaking..

Gearbox split.. not a lot left of what was a gasket...

No gasket, ...... plenty of red hermaphrodite though, awful stuff!

Yes horrible stuff. Will make a new gasket.

Gasket easily 'tapped out' using a ball peen hammer and gasket paper - not so sure about the cracked gear
