Binzel's launching a range of plasmas to go head to head against Hypertherm, there is a 60, 80 and 100 amp version coming soon using Thermacut consumables that outlast Hypertherm typically 10-20% at half the money. We'll be targeting CNC table operators first and filtering down to manual users later. We've heard nothing but good things from the Hypertherm OE spares users we have swapped onto Thermacut versions of the spares, reporting longer or similar consumable life and at a serious cost reduction, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they work with their own machine and torch package.
There is talk of a 230 volt 45 amp version but that has some compliance red tape to cut through before release.

I would like to see more high-amp single phase plasma inverters. Not everyone has 3 phase here in the UK (unlike europe where the CE marked machines are targeted towards). They should bring the US versions of the Powermax range over here that will run on a 63A single phase supply.

This is only 6MM, but the compressor we used was having some major issues and if i'm honest was a little on the small side.
Think the lad who cut this was maybe a bit quick with his travel speed.

In all seriousness, My gaffer has ordered some in so i'll see if I can get a proper look in when they're in, maybe even do one of my little "reviews" with pictures and a little video. Maybe make sure I've got a big enough compressor on hand too :P

I've come across Binzels Thermacut consumables at a customer of ours and we (John MAcrae) put Hypertherm/Centricut in to compare and the customer found that the Hypertherm/Centricut parts far out performed the Thermacut ones and changed supplier

Tried out the new pmx 45xp, putting it through its paces, wow, much improvement on the old 45 and that was a class leader. Great cut quality, low current gouging superb, easily cuts 1" will try and cut thicker plate later but judging by the ease in which it went through 1" I'd say that 30+mm is not impossible albeit a hack more than a cut. Like the auto air reg, and not having to switch the set off & on again when changing consumables, quick disconnect torch handy. I just hope they don't hike the prices up in January. I know that quality costs and it is paying a little more for the Hypertherm systems but there is a limit on how much one can ask.. especially in Wales. Excellent machine tho
