power to my shed

putting a more permanent power source in the shed, have been using a home made extension lead until now but have finally got round to doing it properly.

new cu, a few double sockets and a 16 socket and some lights.

as i am renting, my landlord wont allow any electrical work to be connected to the cu in the house without their spark testing it first. This is fine by me, so i made arrangements for a spark to come out and do what he had to do.

a guy arrived this morning, and then told me he couldn't do the job because his only experience with electrics is a pat testing course...i mean honeatly, Why did they even bother sending him. He is a plumber by trade

Why not just get them to put a 32A Ceeform on the outside of the house for you to connect to?

would still have to go through all the hastle of getting them out, and i already had the armoured left over from a job a few weeks ago

If you're a member of one of the scams schemes, couldn't you inspect & test yourself and issue an MWC to the landlord?

i can, but my landlord is a prick and would try to evict me over it, even though i am probably more qualified than the chimps he sent round last time. They sent nearly 40mins discussing amongst themselves why there was a blanking plate in place of the old boiler mcb, even though they took the boiler out...

i have emailed the landlord telling him that i am going to test and connect it myself and if he wants to send a properly certified spark out to test it he can, but as i need the power in the shed i simply cant wait.

the most annoying thing is, if there is a problem and something like a light fitting needs replacing he is fine for me to do that, but for some reason he doesn't want me to install anything that i want, even though there is no reason why it shouldn't be done

Too late now, but it would have been better to install it and keep quiet, then disconnect/hide it when you eventually move out.

ive done that with all the outside lighting ive put up. They sent a guy out to do a full test and inspection when this landlord bought the house from the old one. They didn't notice a thing. Just thought id be nice and inform him of what i was doing bjt i wish i hadn't now.

but its all wired up, ive tested it but not filled out a cert and if he says he wants to send someone out before it is connected i will just disconnect it again
