Having almost mastered welding at one setting I decided to advance my skills! to see the changes at different speeds and power settings and the switch broke. No power at settings 2 and 3. 3 is the one I was using for 1-2mm sheet. I will be working on a Landrover bulkhead and reckon 4 will be a bit too powerful. Although could speed up but would definately blow some holes.
Weldequip have kindly offered to look for a replacement switch for me. My thought whilst the switch is out of the machine was that in that my work will be on thin metal and I know 3 is the best setting is there any reason why I can't hard wire the switch to the 3 terminal and have it running on just one power setting.
As as an extra question if anyone has an old Nu-mig 165 to canabalise for spares or knows a suitable replacement switch please let me know.
I know nu-Mig have bad press on this site but it meets my needs as a tool for learning so am looking for a solution other than "buy a new welder".
Many thanks for any help.
Jonathan
