Power file belt sander advice ?

I may go for silverline only because it has a smaller body as i do have a lot of small area as its for my vw beetle resto. The variable speed is great and was unaware the it had this , so at the moment i am thinking silverline but by Monday this may change..

Silverline offers a lifetime guarantee on their kit, if I recall correctly. Another company who offers a phone app, so that you can register your gear with them.

Only problem i have is i low cfm compressor but thanks.

How low? belt grinders are only about 6CFM

I recently bought the Silverline. For the scope that I bought, seems to be OK (filling welds on alu). I bought also from Amazon.UK 2 sets of #40 & #80 (I had to go with #40 & #120) of blue Zirconia belts, made by STARCKE. Up to now, the job is going well. I cannot compare it with other models, as I have no any experience with similar B&D, Aldi & Evo, but I guess that Silverline must be lighter and more comfortable.

So my new silverline has arrived and i must say it all ok. Good with variable speed and came with two packs of 60 80 grit Its ideal for what i need as i have many tight areas after welding on my 1970 vw beetle . I don't know why i didn't get one sooner it has made a world of difference .

I been using the Aldi 400wat Powerfiles which I use commercially, they last me beyond the three year standard supplied warranty and I have killed a couple of them; basically worn the motors out....... but I am using them on a daily basis and I get through 200ish belts a year.

The belts are 457 X 13 and I now purchase P36 (red) ceramic belts 100 at a time from Abrasives for metal

Up until 3 years ago I was purchasing (blue) P36 Zirconia belts from Abtec abrasives, but they switched supplier, the price went up, the quality went down and belts were just loosing all the abrasive grit before even touching the steel....... I wasn't even getting a 1 minute lifespan from the belts. This of course ended up in argument between abtec and me, they refused to replace or refund so I took all my abrasive purchases elsewhere.

After the last calamity with blue belts (joint tape failure) I bought some 70mm belts and cut them down with a cutting disc.

I killed a couple opf cheapies making boomerangs out of ply. Great tool for the job then upgraded to the Makita one years and years ago maybe 15 years? still, going strong and constantly in use

If so, which ones?

The ceramic ones for taking down welds I would think. I use these, similar price from most suppliers. I find the rubber wheel at the end of the arm becomes rounded because inevitably you find yourself turning the tool at an angle at times. At this point the belts start slipping off. The arms are replaceable though and cost about £14.

My B and D powerfile has probably been the most useful tool in my car restoration. Shame they've gone up so much over the last few years.

I got an aldi one to see whether I would actually use one enough to be worth having, discovered that it was REALLY useful so used it until it died and bought a B&D which is still going well five years later, at least. Doesn't get used all the time but invaluable when it's needed. I get belts from screwfix, cheap and work well enough.
