Power cable

I want to run some into an outbuilding. But I don't want to bury a cable and have it permanently set up. I'd like to be able to disconnect and roll the cable up.
I just want a few sockets and a few strip lights in the outbuilding.

What sort of cable could I use for this?
Would the cable they use at outdoor events from generators be suitable? I've got no experience of this.
I like to put a socket on an existing outbuilding which has its own fuse box. And run the cable from there to the outbuilding and have a fuse box in there.
Any ideas? Thanks

Putting sockets both ends could be confusing. One end probably needs a plug.

It will partly depend on where you intend to connect it at the house end. Are you just going to plug it into a 13a socket or into a dedicated circuit? What size circuit?

The cable that @dobbslc suggests is ideal (not sure about suitability outdoors ) upto circa 45a but a bit over the top if you're only plugging into a 13a socket. Perhaps 'caravan' power cable (2.5mm and flexible) would suffice in this instance?

And then either make or buy a suitable extension lead with H07RN cable to go between the two.

That is for 16A, you can do the same for 32A depending on what breaker you have on the supply side, obviously with a larger cable.

It's not used that often.
So I imagine 16 amp would be enough. The biggest thing in there is a harrsion L5 small lathe, that's on an inverter to single phase.

Have a look on the KES website for power & light stuff. Cheaper than Gewiss stuff and decent kit.

Your Live ends must be sockets, so a Wall mounting 16A 1P+N+E IEE form outlet socket to feed.
A 16A plug to go into that, then a trailing socket on the other end of the extension.
A wall mounting Plug on the Shed end - to ideally a small Garage Dis Board - giving you protection circuits for lighting & sockets.
Make sure you're looking at the right rating (16A) for each of the 4 items you need, & note the Product Code, so you can make sure you are selecting the correct items.

I've got an outbuilding in the garden which has a small fuse board in it. This was professionally fitted, with the previous owners.
My big shed is about 4 meters behind it. Digging for an armoured permanent cable between the two is problematic, hence the removable cable idea

Ok, at that distance voltage drop shouldn't be a concern.
