Any members have experience with getting car tyres no wheels posted across UK? In my case england to NI from a private seller on FB. All 4x seperately? 205 55 R15 Hankooks new unused FWIW
I've wrapped and taped a black bag around the tyre and then just stuck the label on it with the rest of the tyre exposed. I’ve also received tyres in the same manner but with shrink wrap wrapped around.
All the tyres I have bought on line only have the label stuck to them. They also don’t always arrive in one go, they sometimes get separated and delivered on different days.
My bike ones just had black stretch wrap around one bit with the label attached to it.
Suppose it really depends on which courier as to their requirements.
Had 4 recently, black plastic cling film wrapped all round into 2 'pairs' label stuck on outside 'tread' on both. rolled out of courier van ,and rolled round to garage. fairly straightforward delivery really if a bit bulky.
How does one go about arranging for a courier to collect from a third party, for delivery to you ?
Normally I would just take the trailer and collect, but it's 130 miles (straight line distance, not road miles). What with the Covid 19 restrictions and I'd need to put 2 new tyres on the car (one is close to, but not under the limit, but trailer might be a little tail happy), I was wondering how to go about it.
Previously vendors have been able to arrange, but this one is adamant about arranging my own courier, load is 4' x 3' and weighs roughly 200 - 300 kgs.
Print delivery address on A4 paper>Laminate the paper>Gaffer tape label to tyre very well>Insure for above value in case of sticky fingers>Send> Sorted.
Last tyres I bought on line, came flat packed,a year later one of them still only holds pressure for a few days, they’re 10”, larger ones I receive never a problem.
A lot of the carriers are hitting people with extra charges for things just wrapped in shrinkwrap. They all want nice boxes for their conveyors. FEDEX and TNT are very naughty with extra charges. Fedex hit us with loads of extra charges. P4D went bust because of it. Beware if it's your own account.
ive had tyres delivered through evri and DPD, they were individually wrapped with black pallet wrap for evri, but dpd just had a sticker on each tyre, no wrapping at all.
