portamig cover?

call me sad but has any one come up with a cover for the welders when not in use? after paying near £600 for a welder i dont want it see it get beat up and scratched etc, just the sort of person i am. was thinking of a small bbq cover or somthing?

If you aren't going 'made to measure' then may I suggest one of those heavy duty bags builders' merchants use for sand, gravel etc.

Much heavier duty than BBQ or garden furniture covers.

You have given me an idea to discuss with the Ultimate Authority who is in charge of all Haberdashery and Manchester Goods in our household. She's done a couple of 'made to measure' car covers and trailer tilts from cheap Lidl tarpaulins and recently progressed to recovering a full set of Rover 800 seats in cream leather and green cloth.

I have a cover on my 2 small generators when not it in use. I just stitched them together on a sewing machine out of some old cloth, bed sheet, dust sheet, anything like that. Maybe a bit of cloth tape to tie round the back of the bottle. You could do something like that, sorry haven't got any pics available.

Wonder how much they'd charge for one to go over the mig with the bottle bit on the back like you say.

It wouldn't be worth my while as my migs a 2nd hand 20 yr old ERP 150 that's seen better days anyway....

this is where the newbs could sit until someone comes along to give them advice on welding they could fill there time in a worthwhile fashion and donate the proceeds to the forum and the running of the site


on a side note my new Lorch 252 is getting a wake up call in the back of my van along with mud and dust, its a tough environment but my welder dont suffer from getting cold or worry about a couple of battle scars

there is a local place that does boat covers, gona speak to them and see if they can fleece line a cover

I have a towel draped over my Portamig as protection. This reduces the risk of damage to me by stopping the trousers seeing the shiny paint.
