Just had e-mail from Steve at weldequip and my new shiny portamig should be arriving wednesday complete with wire and helmet/gauntlets. can't wait to get started on my practice welds as a few projects are looming!
My 215 arrived 2 weeks ago 12 days from order being placed, the parts from Steve arrived on the designated day but the mig didn't due to the courier taking 48hrs on a 24hr service , the missus & the 55yr old lady del driver had to unload it cos i was back at work
Having never done mig before i was a little aprehensive but following the settings guide i couldn't believe how easy it was to use, can't say i did any practice welds , just got straight into some projects that needed doing ranging from car panels to 3mm thick angle & 2mm wall tubing.
Everything i hoped it would be & more, best of luck with your new arrival .
Well?? Accessories arrived with helmet/gauntlets/wire and torch but unfortunately on installing the wire it does not line up with the wire feed? Seems to require a spacer or something is missing? It's sitting too far back into the machine so the wire would be coming off at an acute angle (5kg wire spool) although it does state that these can be used in the advert?
You should have a yellow blue and red spacer with the welder, can't remember of the top of my head how i arranged them in mine, but you put the spacers behind and then put on the roll of wire and the locking ring to hold it all in place.
Just make sure not to set the locking ring too tight and set the rollers to the right pressure.
Just annoying that it's another delay, not as if I didn't ask about it beforehand! I have checked and there are no adaptors in the boxes.
(Order received & placed with the factory today Jim, as soon as I get word it's ready I will be in touch to arrange delivery for you.
Pretty sure standard size for gloves is 10, and the MIG Gauntlets can be a bit on the big side; I'll send you some TIG gloves instead, much closer fitting than the MIG Gauntlets
Thank's,
Steve
Cheers Steve, got the confirmation on my E-mail yesterday, quick question will I need any adaptors for the wire reel that I ordered? It does say on the add that it takes 5 and 15 but I have seen some posts on the site saying they required the adaptors?)
Looking at the photos the first one is how I would roughly hope to see the spool when mounted, mine however is the last one (you can just see the edge of the spool on the right) how are you supposed to feed the wire to the wire feed mechanism with this arrangement (I have tried it just plulls the wire off the side of the spool and tangles))??
i bought a 0.6 and a 0.8 spool for mine and installed both at the same time, outside spool then lines up perfectly.
just make sure the spool not in use has the wire secured properly.
also cut a 12mm wood dowel the correct length to fit through both spools and into the apature on the holder.
