If you've still got the brass valve that came out of the cylinder drill it through and solder a brass fitting in to give you the connection of your choice and then screw it back into the bottle.
IIRC the thread is between 3/8 and 1/2 BSP. I also understand that the red propane cylinders have a 1/2 bsp thread.
You'll need to make sure the pressure relief valve to the side is blocked off.
Take care when drilling the valve, there's a spring and a ball bearing in there that could snag the drill.
