I'm doing some welding onto to some mild steel angle and box section, the material is all 3mm thick. I keep getting an issue when I do a certain weld joint on the edge of the box section, causing a large amount of porosity. My instant reaction was cleanliness, so I double checked that all the scale was ground off and cleaned everything with acetone. When the arc is on the angle there is no issue, but when the arc is on the box section it starts bubbling and spitting straight away. I'm running my argon at 7 liters per minute (checked at the torch as well), 2.4mm Lanthanated electrode, ground to a 30 degree angle, running at 70 amps.
Is it just cleanliness or is there something else I'm missing?
