Only an amateur with a R-tech dc160 doing welds good enough for me and have not had one fail yet building whilst 2 + 3 wheeled pedal machines.
Me in the lead somewhere in Holland..
I had some problems with porosity that I tracked down to poor tungsten treatment post gas was not on long enough letting the tungsten get dirty and I was not stopping immediately if I dipped it orbrushed it with the filler.
Q1) However I have noticed whilst the tungsten in the gas shroud is now clean when I go to sharpen it , there is a dirty dark band where it is gripped in the collet ?
Is that normal ?
Q2) I have some acquired 6mm steel it had a gold finish looking more like anodising but grittier , I ground it back to shiny and have had a devils own job welding it.
Very porous welds and when welding there is a blue/purple haze on the edges of the arc area ?
Ideas/advice very welcome
