It's a gas problem Cossie. Not an earth problem, doesn't look like a wire quality problem.

Where are you? For some sort of fee, I'll bring an alternative bottle of shielding gas and a bit of know-how, and get you welding again.

We are in Bonnybridge near Falkirk and if you could come out to see it that would be good. How much are we talking ?

We need to get to the bottom of this as its costing alot of labour time. A job that should of took 2 hours took 7 today.

right can anyone help us out here. this is really getting on my T*ts now. Still the same old rubbish welds. We have changed the bottle so that rules that out.

Drains any chance you could come over and have a look ?

You really need to be getting your hands on "pea shooter" device, this allows you view amount of gas exiting at business end. You sould also check around gas soleniod, which you will find inside plant, possibly a prob there?

You mention you have no probs when welding not so chunky shafts, up the gas flow to 15 lpm while nailing thicker shafts................

thanks for the reply. We have a guy coming tomorow to replace all the gas hoses, he thinks its drawing in air somewhere. hope this solves it.

Seems a pretty easy problem to sort out...........did changing the torch not improve things at all?
