I wonder if the repair bill is more than the overtime he would have been paying?Around 25 years ago this farm had 15 workers who each had their own tractor they all looked after them washed them greased them and my job was mainly servicing. Some were old boys some young all British they were not paid a great hourly wage but there was unlimited overtime so working 60- 70 hour's a week sometimes 80-90 hours at harvest time ,they could maintain a good standard of living. But when Mr Blair opened the borders to unlimited integration the farmer realised he never needed to pay overtime again. So some retired some left, a 40 hour week was no good if you had a mortgage. And now eastern Europeans is all they employ and the repair bill is horrendous.
