As most of you know, im a pro painter with sound mechanical knowledge especially on the old stuff. Now unwrapped the MG today to ready for roof down weather. Got the oil round the engine and fuel (eventually) to the carbs. Plugs back in, check points gap, fine. Fire! Nothing. Took No1 plug lead back off and ran to earth. Fire. Nothing. King lead to earth, fire. beautiful blue sparks. New cap and rotor. Nothing at No1. New condenser. Now nothing at king lead!! Check coil (switch side). Points open +12v from ignition but when connected to coil +4.6v Uhh? New coil. +6.7v when connected, nothing at king lead. Back to original coil and original condenser. Fired up on the button and ran like a champ. Discuss please. Especially the bit about a probably faulty condenser stopping the coil from firing ???
