I have an electric one from Aldi that I bought to see how useful it would be, intending to replace it with a good one if it did turn out to be useful. That was two years ago and I still have it, and it is way more useful that I thought it would be.
Yep, I get mine in screwfix too. They last long enough for the money, and its a tool I use for particular jobs where I can't get in with a flapdisc rather than a go to sander so ten belts lasts me ages, and saves me hours with a file by hand.If got an Aldi one as well, useful tool. The supplied belts are too soft for metal. I've been buying Screwfix belts, some disintegrated very quickly, but a £2.99 for ten I don't worry too much about that. I keep meaning to get some better ones, but haven't got round to it.
I have a B&D Powerfile too, it does not get used very often but sometimes it is the only tool for the job.I've got a black n decker power file I picked up from Argos about 7 years ago, immensely useful bit of kit
I have the 400 watt generic ones that appear on sale branded as Ferm/Workzone/Evolution/Ryobi/ B&D etc. I have no problems with them and I am currently using (almost 2 years now) the Aldi branded Workzone one in a commercial environment cleaning splatter and mill scale, and apart from wearing the odd bearing out I've not had any real trouble. It is used for 30 minutes per day five days a week, sometimes six days.
The belts I use are 455 X 13 or 455 X 10. I get extremely good life out of the P36 ceramic belts from http://www.abrasivesformetal.co.uk/fx87-ceramic-power-file-belts.aspx
Don't bother with belts from Abtec Abrasives they've changed supplier and gone cheap, but have increased the retail price, and I can't get 2 minutes of working life out of their belts
