Plumbing connection question

Before I had the sense to ask on here, I thought I'd have to bore it out, chamfer the end and then thread it, which sounded very likely to end in tears. Then my brain finally started working properly and reminded me to ask on here instead.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Then I thought "How the hell do you get the olive in and screw it the retaining collar?"

If you are concerned or dont have a Tapered BSP tap , and only have access to an parrallel tap , instead of buying two 15mm comp to male thread , buy two 15mm compression couplers , so it has a nut and olive at each end , take the nut and olive off one end and you will ( should ) end up with a fitting with comp on one end and a parrallel thread the other . Yes you wont have the benefit of a tapered thread to help lock tight , but done correctly ie with ptfe or bosswipe etc , it will work fine .I hope than makes sense !

you could also drill a 16mm hole and smuther the pipe in heatsink paste

Yes it does make sense! I have a 1/2" BSP tap, but its parallel thread. I was hoping I could get a !/2"BSP to 15mm coupler with a tapered thread but I can't find one yet! That would be a doddle, if it actually exists...

If you ask at the merchants , they should be able to supply a 15mm comp to 1/2 BSP taper thread , it is normaly an off the shelf sort of item . If you get stuck let me know and I will see what I can do

I am a plumber, and would recommend using Rocol thread sealer when you put it together. Rapidseal I think its called, very very good stuff. We use it on a lot of heating components (rad tails etc) and fittings on boilers

Red hermatite also works very well on boiler fittings.
