I happened to be at a w shop when dewalt were making a promo film for their new 54v 125 mm grinder full film crew with drone buzzing around pipey with all the ppe cutting a 8 inch pipe looked like a handy tool but very expensive
I like the metabo it was the first grinder id ever seen with a speed control essential if you are using say a powerbrush try it without and you be picking bristles out your leg etc
The big makita 125 mm with paddle switch were staple rig yard fare and could take it
Early bosch were good had a long dead man switch but the gaurd location was crap
The thumb switch ones are bad yry using one in the mud besides the switch is on locked no what you want when the grinder jumps out yer hand and does a barnes wallace bouncing bomb im wi richard metabo the one

I recomend replaceing the cable with some H07 which ever you go for. makes it much nicer to use and more hard wearing too.

Mine too, with the clutch for grabbed discs and the no volt release switch they are safer to use than cheaper ones. Long flexible cable is a bonus as well.

Makita fir a plug in. Price and life, thier battery grinders i have used have all been pants though.
Matabo do some great designs for metalworking but i dont rate them as tough in abuse as Makita.
But the cirrect one for you and purpose as makita do a lot of models to suit vsried tasks

Makitas vibrate like **Language** and burn out in hours. Not made like they once were.
Like Bosch and hitachi also gone that way,cheapened to compete with the budget jobs,few years ago I bought back some oldies that give a decade or more service,hoping I can get parts when needed.
Just had my old hilti back from repair,it’s decades old,£47 inc pat test + vat.
Obviously there’s a balance to be assessed when spending on repair.

Another vote for Metabo. I have 5" corded grinders as well as their 'stainless steel lo profile grinders' and their are great. Have a 9" grinder and it's a Fein with tooless disk change, also great. I have battery Metabo and they don't do the same as the corded grinders. They will burn out the brush carriers and stop working
. Though in their defence they were never designed to compete with corded grinders for duty cycle. However in their defence on the right job they are very handy.

A 2 year update on what he bought might let us know if it ended up being a quality one.
Easy to tell as they'll often post a sneaky link, in this case the words "angle grinder" in his post linked to some reviews site.

You can still get Hitachi (Hikoki ) quality but you pay more than their budget range. I have always bought the more expensive 9" Hitachi grinders for my main workhorse as they simply outlast anything else I have tried. The have an Aluminium body round the windings which dissipates the heat.

I’d second the above - even within the same range (eg Bosch professional, makita etc) there will be different grades of tool and the more you pay the better quality, better finish etc (in general...) you’ll get.
