Please give feedback on welds....

Sometimes if i have used a worn flap disc to remove mill scale...it doesn't remove it but polishes it..i think the same can happen with wire wheels.

One thing i have noticed is that you appear to have used a wire wheel to "clean" the metal first. The last 2 pics appear to clearly show this.In my humble opinion this is not as good as actually grinding off the mill scale right through to shiny metal. what do others think ?

I must agree grinding does a better job of cleaning mill scale away

those welds have good potential, all you need is practise and they will come up very professional.

you've obviously got the hang of it, and they are structurally good, correct settings technique etc. just keep at it and they will look bling

I was going for structually good and then try and make them pretty too, no good looking nice and falling apart when it has to bear any weight.......

I did use a flap disc initially and then a wheel as you have noticed to clean the weld for the pictures........do you think that not going deep enough contributed to the spatter or does that look like the normal amount?

I'd be tempted to grind off a bit to get back to new clean metal, might not reduce splatter but should make the weld better
