Playing MP4 files on TV - anomaly (great word!!)

We've just started watching the complete 7 series of Game of Thrones - yes I know we're a bit late!!

I have two modern (but different models) 4K LG TV's in two different lounges. Now, on one TV, if we stop watching an episode part way through we can just go back and it picks up where we left off....we can also fast forward or reverse at will.

On the other TV it will not 'remember' where we were and starts again from the beginning..if I try to fast forward it just goes back to the start and will not start anywhere else...most frustrating. I've never come across this before...anyone any ideas??

Different Software. You should be able update it, no guarantee it’ll work though

Software is different but up to date on both TV's. After some investigation it turns out there are many variations of mp4 files ...apparently LG have their own 'favourite' recipe so I may have to alter my files to suit LG !!

LG are one of the better ones, but all smart TVs I’ve seen are lacking, I setup a Plex system and it’s a joy to use on every TV in the house. I use a Synology NAS and it works great but some people spend out on proper servers, some use old PC’s and even raspberry Pi’s!
